HA NOI (VNS) — Viet Nam and Angola should speed up efforts to bolster bilateral economic co-operation, President Truong Tan Sang said yesterday.
A meeting of the Viet Nam-Angola Inter-governmental Committee should be convened for this purpose, he told visiting Angolan Interior Minister Angelo de Barros V. Tavares.
Sang said he believed Angola would reap further successes in its national reconstruction efforts.
He spoke highly of the flourishing collaboration between the two countries in health and education and called for increased mutual support at international forums.
Briefing the President on the outcome of a working session between his delegation and the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security, Tavares said the newly-inked agreement on public security co-operation would open up new orientations for future bilateral collaboration
Earlier the same day, Tavares held talks with Vietnamese Minister of Public Security General Tran Dai Quang.
Quang hailed the Angolan delegation's visit as a milestone in the development of bilateral co-operation in preventing crime and ensuring security and order in either country. This would further deepen the traditional friendship between the two nations, he added.
During the talks, the two sides exchanged views on regional and international security-related issues, particularly human trafficking, drug and hi-tech crimes.
They agreed to increase the exchange of delegations to further share information and experiences in crime prevention and investigation.
