HCM CITY (VNS) — Voters in HCM City yesterday told President Truong Tan Sang that the State should issue policies that encourage application of scientific advancements in production so as to make local products more competitive.

They also proposed that the number of full-time NA deputies be increased and the promulgation of impractical legal documents stopped.

The President expressed his appreciation for the constructive suggestions made by voters in HCM City's Districts 1 and 3, saying they would help address pressing socio-economic issues facing the country.

In their meeting with the President, the voters also sought explanations for the situation of high inventories of locally-made goods and the inability of Vietnamese enterprises to produce spare parts for foreign companies.

President Sang assured the voters that the National Assembly would pay special attention to perfecting its functions in the coming months and years.

He also informed them that in its upcoming 8th session of the 13th tenure, the parliament was scheduled to pass 17 draft laws, with many facilitating economic growth.

He also told them that the legislative body had strengthened its supervisory function and would further reform this in the days to come.

Combating and preventing corruption remained a priority, the President affirmed, asking voters to co-operate with concerned agencies in this endeavour.

During the meeting with voters, the State leader also asked municipal authorities to take more drastic measures to fight social vices and maintain a healthy social environment. — VNS
