HA NOI (VNS) — National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung attended a ceremony yesterday celebrating the start of the Ha Noi People's Police Academy's 2014-2015 school year.
The academy has enrolled more than 40,000 undergraduates and postgraduates since its inception in 1968, and employs about 1,200 staff members. For the new school year, about 1,000 freshmen, 400 postgraduates and 400 officers from Viet Nam and other countries will join the academy.
The NA chairman congratulated the academy on its achievements. He said it must continue to guarantee political stability, national security, social order and safety in the country.
He also highlighted major missions tasked on police forces amidst the complicated security and order situation, hostile forces' plots to cause social instability, and growing organised and transnational crime.
The leader asked the academy to better its organisational structure, its quality of education, and the effectiveness of its scientific research so it can give more valuable security advice to the Party, State and Ministry of Public Security. — VNS
