Prime Minister hails VN-Russia MoU on fighting corruption

HA NOI (VNS) — Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has described the Memorandum of Understanding on fighting corruption signed between Viet Nam and Russia as a practical contribution to enhancing the friendship.

The Government leader made the remarks while receiving the head of the Anti-Corruption Department of Russia's Presidential executive office, Plokhoi Oleg Anatolevich, who is on a working visit to Viet Nam.

He said the Party and State of Viet Nam defined anti-corruption as a key task that must be carried out in a persistent manner with a focus on improving institutional systems and legal regulations..

Viet Nam joined the United Nations Convention Against Corruption in 2009.

The country hopes to further co-operate with international partners, including Russia, in sharing experience and training officials in the field, the PM said.

He added that the Government supported co-operative activities between its Inspectorate and Russia's Anti-Corruption Department.

The Russian official said his agency would work closely with Vietnamese inspectors to fully implement the contents of the memorandum. — VNS
