Lao leaders pledge to promote ‘special ties' during visit to VN

HA NOI (VNS) — General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and Lao President Choummaly Sayasone toured Viet Nam from August 18-21 at the invitation of Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) Central Committee General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

During his stay, he had meetings with CPV leader Trong and President Truong Tan Sang, and visited HCM City and the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong.

The two sides informed each other of the situation of each party and country, and discussed ways to further beef up Viet Nam-Laos solidarity and co-operation.

The Lao leader thanked the Party, State and people of Viet Nam for their support for Laos in the past and pledged that the Lao Party, State and people would promote the special ties.

Party General Secretary Trong and President Sang congratulated Laos on its achievements, saying that under the leadership of the LPRP, the Lao people would overcome all difficulties.— VNS
