HA NOI (VNS) — Viet Nam attached much importance to developing its friendship and all-round ties with the Netherlands, which can be considered a model of effective relations between the country and a European state, said National Assembly Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu.

The NA leader made the remark yesterday during a meeting with a delegation from the Dutch parliament's Committee for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation led by Chairman Raymond de Roon.

He suggested that the two sides maintain exchanges of delegations at all levels and strengthen mutual support at multilateral and international forums, adding that they should also foster co-operation in the priority fields of climate change, water resource management, agriculture and energy.

For his part, Raymond de Roon said the sound relationship between the two peoples of Viet Nam and the Netherlands was an important foundation for beefing up co-operation in all fields. He hoped the two countries would increase meetings in order to strengthen mutual understanding and economic partnership.

Earlier, the Dutch guests had a working session with a delegation from the National Assembly's Committee for Economics led by Chairman Nguyen Van Giau. The two sides discussed administrative procedures and customs reform, as well as socio-economic matters of mutual concern. — VNS
