HA NAM (VNS) — National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung has commended the People's Council of Ha Nam Province for its efforts in handling public feedback, but urged that more work needed to be done.
At a session of the council's 17th tenure yesterday, Hung highlighted the province's socio-economic achievements during the first half of 2014 and ordered the council's members to clarify shortcomings and devise appropriate measures to meet yearly targets.
He also urged them to step up efforts to publicise and implement the amended Constitution approved in 2013 and ensure the document was fully observed.
Reports at the function said that Ha Nam's gross domestic product in the six-month period grew by 11 per cent on the previous year, while the rate of household poverty had been brought down to 5.68 per cent.
The province is accelerating the construction of new rural areas, aiming to finish six communes that would satisfy 19 specified criteria and the remainder that would meet at least 10.
The province is working to address problems affecting the business community and provide better conditions for their operations.
The 9th session of the Ha Nam People's Council will spend two days reviewing the locality's performance and setting tasks for socio-economic development for the second half of this year. — VNS
