Philippines keen to bolster ties with Viet Nam

HA NOI (VNS)— President of the Philippines Benigno Aquino III has said his country is enthusiastic about boosting ties with Viet Nam in various fields to assure the mutual prosperity of both countries.

During a reception for Vietnamese Ambassador Truong Trieu Duong, who presented his credentials on Wednesday, President Aquino III said the Philippines values ties with Viet Nam and sees the country as a brother and important partner.

Also, the President highly praised the outcome of co-operation with Viet Nam in all fields, appreciating the country's important role in ensuring food security for the Philippine people.

He further thanked the Vietnamese Government and people for their help in overcoming the impact of the devastating typhoon Haiyan.

Ambassador Duong pledged to do his utmost to contribute to fostering all-round co-operation with the Philippines, especially through the successful implementation of the Viet Nam-Philippines Plan of Action for the 2011-16 period, heading to the establishment of a strategic partnership. — VNS
