HA NOI (VNS) — Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung met voters in the northern port city of Hai Phong's Vinh Bao District yesterday to prepare for the upcoming sixth session of the 13th National Assembly.
In the meeting, voters asked the Government to continue taking care of disadvantaged families and people and those who had contributed to the revolutionary cause.
They urged Government leaders to support farmers by seeking consumption markets for agricultural products and investing in rural infrastructure.
Some voters expressed their wish that the Government and Hai Phong authorities allocate capital to build key transport projects in the district and upgrade irrigation works.
The agencies were also asked to deal with land clearance and compensation issues to ensure benefits for residents whose land was revoked.
The voters said they hoped that in the upcoming session the National Assembly would make a strategic decision to continue boosting the country's socio-economic development and lift up its role and position in the international arena.
PM Dung affirmed that the Party and the State had proven their devotion to agriculture and rural areas by issuing policies with proven efficiency.
He cited the Agriculture Restructuring Plan, which focused on applying science and technology to increasing agricultural productivity and improving product quality.
He said the Government would continue investing in the sector's sustainable development as well as the New Rural Model Programme.
Dung also affirmed that the Government would support the city to improve infrastructure, especially key transport and irrigation projects, creating a driving force for the locality's socio-economic development. — VNS
