HA NOI (VNS)– The National Assembly Standing Committee will discuss a range of draft laws and other crucial issues for five days at its 22nd session in Ha Noi this morning.
Members of the committee spent a minute's silence in memory of General Vo Nguyen Giap who died on Friday at the age of 103.
Addressing the meeting, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said the role of this session was to make preparations for the sixth meeting of the thirteenth National Assembly this month.
The NA Standing Committee will review Government reports on the implementation of socio-economic development plans, budget spending and plans for central and local budget allocations.
It will also discuss revisions and amendments to laws such as the 1992 Constitution, the Law on Bidding and Public Security Law.
The committee will debate a Government proposal on joining an international convention on the use of all types of mobile equipment, from aircraft to railway engines, known as the Cape Town Convention and Aircraft Protocol.
At this morning's session, chaired by NA vice chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, lawmakers discussed a Government report on the three-year implementation of national programmes and the Governmental bonds sold for construction of national highways No1 and No14.
In the afternoon, they will examine implementation of national economic restructuring.- VNS
