NEW YORK (VNS) — Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh yesterday praised the achievements of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the enhancement of co-ordination at international forums, especially within the United Nations (UN), in 2013.
The statement marks the Informal ASEAN Ministerial Meeting (IAMM) which met during the 68th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The meeting precedes the 23rd ASEAN Summit and related meetings scheduled for October 8-10 in Brunei.
The same day, Minh attended a meeting between ASEAN ministers, the UN Secretary General and the President of UN General Assembly, to discuss ASEAN-UN co-operation and the implementation of the comprehensive partnership established between the two bodies in 2011.
Minh also met with foreign ministers from China, Andorra, Bulgaria and Madagascar.— VNS
