HA NOI (VNS)— Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai received visiting Japanese Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Ohta Akihiro in Ha Noi yesterday.
The Deputy PM wanted the two sides to strengthen co-operation in the transport sector, and Japan to maintain its provision of ODA and preferential loans to Viet Nam to develop its transport infrastructure.
According to Hai, Japan has remained one of Viet Nam's important donors in developing transport infrastructure, with the scope of co-operation ranging from aviation and maritime to rail and road networks.
Akihiro affirmed that Japan would assist Viet Nam both in capital and expertise to develop infrastructure for the benefit of both countries and Asia.
Also yesterday, the Japanese minister had a meeting with the Vietnamese transport sector, led by Minister Dinh La Thang. The two sides discussed and made clear issues and problems in Viet Nam's key construction projects that the Japanese firms are working on, including the Nhat Tan Bridge, Lach Huyen Port, Noi Bai Airport's Terminal 2 and a number of highways such as Ha Noi-Noi Bai, Tan Vu-Lach Huyen and Long Thanh-Dau Giay.— VNS
