Ties with Japan to be enhanced

HA NOI (VNS)— Viet Nam wants to further co-operate with Japan, especially in strategic breakthroughs such as completing the market economic mechanism, high quality human resources development and synchronous development of infrastructure, science and technology.

Politburo member and Secretary of the Party Central Committee To Huy Rua made these comments during his meeting with former prime minister of Japan Yukio Hatoyama, in Ha Noi yesterday.

Hatoyama said that in his new position as the president of the East Asian Community Research Institute, he would continue paying attention to and contributing to the development of bilateral relations as well as focusing on co-operation with Viet Nam in science and technology.

Also yesterday, Hatoyama attended a seminar on current and future Viet Nam-Japan scientific and technological co-operation in Ha Noi to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries. — VNS
