PARIS (VNS)— A seminar to promote co-operation between localities in France and Viet Nam took place in the French city of Brest on Monday.
The event was organised to celebrate France-Viet Nam Exchange Year and mark the 40th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Addressing the event, French Minister of Development Pascan Danfin said that those involved in social organisations in the respective nations should share their experiences and discuss ways to boost co-operation between Vietnamese and French localities.
Local-level projects implemented by the two sides have effectively contributed to the development of Viet Nam and France, he noted.
Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son underlined the importance of the seminar, which took place during a year in which the countries hope to establish a strategic partnership.
France is now one of Viet Nam's largest European trade partners and investors, Son said, adding that it has consistently been one of the leading providers of official development assistance to Viet Nam for over a decade. — VNS
