HA NOI (VNS)— Politburo member of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Dinh The Huynh has hailed Germany's role in Europe and the world at large and praised the success of its strategic partnership with Viet Nam.

Huynh, who is also a secretary of the Party Central Committee, made the remarks at a meeting in Ha Noi on Saturday with Edelgard Bulmahn, a member of the German Bundestag's Committee on Foreign Affairs. Bulmanh was heading a delegation of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) to Viet Nam for the third CPV-SPD Dialogue.

Huynh praised the efforts made by both the CPV and SPD to hold the discussions in an open and straightforward manner, especially amid the current global financial and economic crisis.

Bulmahn, who is a former federal minister, said the SPD conducted this kind of dialogue only with a few political parties in Asia, and she sounded her appreciation for the CPV's role in Viet Nam's national construction and development.

During the dialogue, participants focused talks on the development of social welfare, pension insurance and State social assistance, especially for the vulnerable groups in each country. — VNS
