HA NOI (VNS)— The Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) and the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) held their third dialogue yesterday in Ha Noi, focusing on challenges facing sustainable social welfare policies for the people of both nations, and solutions to these issues.
Hoang Binh Quan, member of the CPV Central Committee and Head of the CPV Central Committee's Commission for External Relations led the Vietnamese delegation, while the German delegation was headed by Edelgal Bulmahn, member of the German Parliament and its Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Addressing the two-day event, both Quan and Bulmahn expressed their belief that the dialogue would further contribute to deepening the sound friendship and co-operation between the two parties.
Quan noted that the Vietnamese Party and Government had paid much attention to the building of a social welfare system over the years.
Relevant agencies and laws and policies had been completed, creating a legal basis for the establishment and development of a social welfare system in Viet Nam, he added.
He emphasised that the CPV was set to effectively integrate social equality and renovation into every national development policy.
Both host and guest agreed that this year's dialogue theme had significant and practical meaning in the context that the two countries are exerting efforts to ease the impacts of the global economic crisis on the economies and social welfare conditions of both countries.-VNS
