QUANG NGAI (VNS)— The national flag will fly on Thoi Loi mountain, the highest peak on Ly Son island in central Quang Ngai Province, by the end of this year.

Construction of a 25-metre high flagpole began on Saturday. The pole looks towards the Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago.

It is being built with funds raised by students as part of an on-going programme to foster interest in the nation's sea and islands 2013.

To mark the occasion, doctors from Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union's Quang Ngai provincial chapter and the HCM City Association of Young Entrepreneurs provided free medical check-ups and medicine for more than to 500 local people. — VNS
