HA NOI (VNS)— Minister of National Defence Phung Quang Thanh yesterday received a delegation of war veterans from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, nations which helped Viet Nam during the war against the US aggressors.

The struggle for independence and freedom by the Vietnamese people and army had been supported by many international friends, particularly those from the former Soviet and socialist countries, Thanh said.

Of those, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus had sent thousands of specialists and military consultants to Viet Nam, who contributed to the Vietnamese victory. They were appreciated, he said.

The visit, at the invitation of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence, is a chance for the veterans to witness the achievements of Viet Nam in building and safeguarding the country.
