HA NOI (VNS)— Viet Nam and Azerbaijan agreed to enhance co-ordination and mutual support at international forums and organisations while boosting ties between the two foreign ministries.
The agreement was reached at a meeting between Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Phuong Nga and Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov. The meeting was part of Nga's visit to Azerbaijan from April 10-12.
The two sides also agreed on measures to strengthen multi-faceted co-operation, especially in the exchange of delegations in the fields of economics, trade and education and training, particularly in the training of experts for the oil and gas sector.
Both sides will also accelerate negotiations to sign agreements on investment encouragement and protection, double taxation avoidance, agriculture and tourism.
Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister praised Viet Nam's achievements in national construction and development as well as the country's position and role in the region and world. Azerbaijan wanted to foster traditional friendship and co-operation with Viet Nam, he affirmed.
During her stay in Azerbaijan, Nga worked with her counterpart Khalaf Khalafov, as well as the Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Deputy Minister of Industry and Energy and the President and leaders of the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
She also delivered a speech at an international forum on alumni organised by the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) and held in Baku. — VNS
