City urged to meet key goals

Update: March, 30/2013 - 08:45

HA NOI (VNS)— Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong yesterday asked HCM City to continue striving for three key goals toward sustainable economic development at a meeting with leaders of HCM City.

They were the formation of a socialist-oriented market economy, improvement of human resources and synchronous infrastructure.

He added that all this had already been mentioned in the resolution of the 11th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.

Trong said that together with the economic growth, the Party building work should always be considered a key and regular task to enhance the Party's role of leadership.

He praised the city's Party member and grassroots organisations for having looked seriously at their shortcomings to be determined to yield better performance.

Conducting criticism and self-criticism was a good way to protect the country's achievements, he pointed out, urging municipal leaders to take the lead in the campaign to learn and follow President Ho Chi Minh's morality.

Trong appreciated the city's efforts in cementing its place as the nation's economic, cultural, education and science and technology hub. There should also be regulations on inspections and punishments to ensure strict implementation of tasks, he added. — VNS
