HA NOI (VNS)— Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh yesterday met with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair when both agreed to further work closely with each other to cement co-operation.

The two noted the intensive and extensive development of the Viet Nam-UK strategic partnership in all fields.

They spoke highly of Vietnamese agencies and the Office of Tony Blair in initiating co-operation in an array of areas, including consultation, reforming State-owned enterprises and attracting foreign investment.

Blair said he is impressed by Viet Nam's socio-economic achievements and the country's policy of international integration. With a stable political-social environment and much potential for economic development, Viet Nam has a big opportunity to attract foreign investment, especially from the European Union and the Middle East, he said.

During his two-day stay in Viet Nam, Blair also met with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and had working sessions with a number of Vietnamese ministers. — VNS
