President holds talks with Lao legislator

HA NOI (VNS)— President Truong Tan Sang highlighted the close cooperation between Vietnamese and Lao legislatures over the past several years while receiving the Vice Chairman of the Lao National Assembly in Ha Noi yesterday.

Sang praised the two countries' achievements during 2012 (their Special Solidarity and Friendship Year) and pledged to do his best to cement the traditional cooperation between Viet Nam and Laos.

His guest, Somphan Phengkhammy, spoke of the outcomes of his talks with National Assembly Vice-Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, adding that during his working visit he sought to share experiences with Viet Nam in building a legal document system.

The Lao legislator also said he hoped the President and Vietnamese agencies would continue creating favourable conditions for exchange between delegations from Laos. He affirmed Laos's support for forums with parliamentarians from regional countries.

The Lao guest pledged to work with the Vietnamese legislature to make cooperation more effective and sustainable, strengthening the special friendship between the two countries. — VNS
