Lao, Cambodia salute Vietnamese Party

On the occasion of the 83rd anniversary of the Communist Party of Vieät Nam, the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and the Central Committee of Cambodia People’s Party sent congratulatory messages to the CPV Central Committee.

HA NOI (VNS) — More than 500 war veterans who were involved in the 1968 Spring Offensive and Uprising gathered in thecentral city of Hue on Saturday to mark the battle’s 45th anniversary.

Across the country, other localities celebrated the landmark event with meetings and performances. The HCM City Museum sponsored an exhibition of over 300 documents and artifacts depicting the victories of the Sai Gon–Gia Dinh special task force troops during the offensive. Visitors could listen to eyewitnesses’ description of the battle’s historic moments.

Localities also marked another momentous anniversary: the founding of the Communist Party of Vieät Nam (CPV) 83 years ago.

Le Thanh Hai, secretary of the HCM City Municipal People’s Committee, described the establishment and development of the Party at a meeting on Saturday, where he asked municipal authorities to implement administrative reforms focused on the goal of modernisation.

The city also held a ceremony to present Vietnamese soldiers’ mementos to the municipal youth union. Other localities, such as Soc Trang and Thai Nguyen, held events in the places where their first grass-roots Party cells were established.

The Central Organisation Committee affirmed that Party building and member management efforts had achieved positive results. As recruiting new Party members was a major priority, membership increased this year to nearly 4 million.— VNS
