HA NOI (VNS)— Viet Nam and Laos need to increase the progress and efficiency of bilateral investment projects and strengthen co-operation on international and regional issues, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong told Somsavat Lengsavad, Deputy Prime Minister of Laos, yesterday during his working visit in Ha Noi.

Somsavat, who also worked as chairman of the Viet Nam-Laos Co-operation Sub-Committee, came to Ha Noi to attend the 35th meeting of the Viet Nam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee for Economies, Culture, Science and Technology Co-operation.
The Lao deputy prime minister confirmed that Laos would make every effort to ensure the two sides' agreements were implemented and strengthen the friendship between the two countries.
In response, Trong congratulated Laos on its successful organisation of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) 9 and on the country's recently joining the World Trade Organisation.
Both Trong and Somsavat expressed satisfaction with the two countries' strong co-operation in recent years. — VNS
