HA NOI (VNS)— Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan said he hoped the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) would help Viet Nam develop space exploration technology yesterday while receiving visiting NASA administrator Charles Bolden.
Bolden agreed with this suggestion and informed Deputy PM Nhan about the results of his trip, in which he met with several relevant agencies.
NASA had already discussed potential areas for co-operation with the Viet Nam Academy of Science and Technology, he said, including the application of satellite technology to monitor usage of natural resources and help prevent natural disasters.
Nhan also hoped that NASA would help Viet Nam train those working in both satellite and terrestrial science and support the country in its quest to join international space-related organisations.
This working trip, he said, represents significant progress in space-related co-operation between Viet Nam and the United States. — VNS
