HA NOI (VNS)— Nguyen Phu Trong and Alberto Anaya, General Secretaries of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and the Mexican Labour Party discussed novel potential co-operation projects between Viet Nam and Mexico yesterday, including a programme to cultivate rice and coconuts in Mexico and grow nopal, a Mexican vegetable plant, in Viet Nam.

At a meeting held in Ha Noi as part of Anaya's working visit to Viet Nam, Anaya also informed Trong about the results of acupuncture programmes performed by acupuncture centres named after late President Ho Chi Minh, which provided treatment to 250,000 poor people in Mexico.

In response, Trong congratulated Anaya on the Labour Party's success in the country's July election.

He also expressed appreciation for the contributions of Anaya and his party towards the friendship and co-operation between the two countries and people during the 15 years since the establishment of Viet Nam and Mexico's relationship.

The Vietnamese Government has taken this occasion to give Alberto Anaya a Friendship Medal to acknowledge his active and fruitful contributions. — VNS
