HA NOI (VNS)— Politburo member and Secretary of the Party Central Committee To Huy Rua presented the Ho Chi Minh Order for the second time to Ha Noi Medical University on Thursday on the occasion of its 110th anniversary.
The award was made to recognise the university's outstanding contributions to the causes of revolution, development and health care.
Praising the accomplishments of the university's teachers and students, Rua said health care was the most important asset of every country, so training a professional medical staff was essential.
Established in 1902, the university is one of 16 key universities in Viet Nam and has trained more than 23,000 doctors. A plan recently approved by the Ministry of Health would increase its training capacity from the current capacity of 8,000 students per year to 18,000 by 2020. — VNS
