Viet Nam, Malaysia keen to boost social housing co-operation

HA NOI (VNS)— Viet Nam hoped to deepen and broaden co-operation with Malaysia in social housing construction and development, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung while receiving former Malaysian Prime Minister Ahdullah Ahmad Badawi yesterday.

Dung stressed that Viet Nam attached importance to the development of social housing and always welcomed and created the best possible conditions for Malaysian businesses to invest in the field.

Highly valuing Badawi's contributions to multifaceted co-operation between the two countries, the Vietnamese leader said he hoped the former Malaysian PM would use his influence to help strengthen co-operation between the two countries, especially in economics, trade, investment, education, tourism and construction.

In reply, Badawi said he and his accompanying construction delegation were keen on further co-operating with Viet Nam in the construction sector, particularly in social housing.

He said the two countries, sharing many similarities, and had great potential and strengths that could assist each other in their own development processes.

The former PM said that he would continue to do his best to consolidate co-operation between Viet Nam and Malaysia. — VNS
