Viet Nam treasures special ties with Laos

HA NOI (VNS) — Viet Nam would do its utmost to, together with Laos, preserve and foster their special solidarity for the benefit of each nation as well as for peace, stability, co-operation and development in the region and the world at large.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong made the affirmation while receiving a delegation from the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee's Commission for Personnel led by its head Chansy Phosikham in Ha Noi yesterday.

Trong spoke highly of the great achievements Laos had made in its process of renewal for national construction and defence, as well as its successful hosting of the Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting and the Asia-Europe People's Forum, and its accession to the World Trade Organisation.

He expressed his belief that under the leadership of the LPRP, the Lao people would harvest greater achievements in the future and successfully implement the Resolution of the 9th Party Congress.

The Party leader highly valued the co-operation between the two Commissions for Personnel, expressing his wish that the agencies would continue close co-ordination and strengthen the exchange of views on theoretical and practical issues including Party building, staff, organisational work and training.

For his part, Chansy Phosikham thanked the Vietnamese Party, State and people for their great support and assistance to Laos. He said that his commission would work closely with its Vietnamese counterpart to implement their co-operation agreements, contributing to successfully realising each Party's resolutions.

On the same day, the Lao delegation had a working session with a delegation from the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee's Commission for Personnel led by its head To Huy Rua. The two sides discussed issues relating to Party building, human resource work and how to implement co-operation programmes. — VNS
