Viet Nam, Laos pursue stronger audit relations

HA NOI (VNS)— National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung expressed his delight at the fine co-operation between the audit offices of Viet Nam and Laos in a meeting with the visiting Chair of the Lao State Audit Organisation (LSAO), Viengthong Siphandone, in Ha Noi yesterday.

Hung applauded Siphan-done's visit, which is taking place at time where Viet Nam and Laos are organising many events to celebrate the 50 years of their bilateral diplomatic ties.

He suggested that the audit offices of Viet Nam and Laos further strengthen co-operation to match the special relationship and comprehensive relations between the two Parties, States, and peoples.

Siphandone thanked the National Assembly and the State Audit of Viet Nam for their close co-ordination and assistance in the training of personnel, as well as their support providing equipment and technology. He expressed his hope of receiving further help in the future.

Earlier in the day, Viengthong also met with SAV chief auditor Dinh Tien Dung.

Dung suggested the LSAO actively work with the Laos-Viet Nam Co-operation Subcommittee to promote an audit partnership between the two nations, especially in the areas of technical assistance and construction investment. He suggested that the two sides should share knowledge and training through joint conferences and seminars.

Viet Nam and Laos have recently reached an agreement to continue the exchange of senior delegations.

The SAV will send experts to Laos to train local auditors and organise short-term training courses, professional seminars and conferences for Lao officials and auditors.

The two countries have also vowed to continue to support each other at multilateral forums, especially in the framework of the ASEAN Supreme Audit Institutions (ASEANSAI). — VNS
