HA NOI (VNS)— Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has pledged the Vietnamese Government's support to defence cooperation with Cuba, especially in areas of military technology, army building and officer training.

At a reception given to Vice Minister of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, Sen. Lt. Gen. Joaquin Quintas Sola, in Ha Noi yesterday, Dung said his working visit to Viet Nam will enhance the two countries' cooperative relations.
He stressed Viet Nam will do its utmost to implement agreements reached between the two countries' leaders to make collaboration, particularly in economics, more practical and effective.
Sen. Lt. Gen. Joaquin Quintas Sola said Cuba always considers Viet Nam's achievements as a great source of encouragement to its national construction and development.
He said his working visit aims to beef up the friendly alliance between the two countries and particularly the two armies.
He expressed his hope that Viet Nam will cooperate and share experiences with Cuba in socio-economic development and national construction as well as in army building and development.
Also in Ha Noi yesterday, deputy Defence Minister Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh, held talks with Cuban Deputy Minister of Revolutionary Armed Forces, Sen. Lieut. Gen. Joaquin Quintas Sola.
The two sides compared notes on regional and international issues.
They also reviewed implementation of the agreement on defence cooperation reached by the two ministries in 2011.
Host and guest also agreed on plans for future cooperation with a range of activities such as exchanging delegations at all levels, training Vietnamese and Spanish languages for military students and sharing their viewpoints on issues of mutual concern, for peace, stability and development in the region and the world at large.
The Cuban delegation is visiting Viet Nam from September 15-21.
On Monday in Havana, the 30th session of the Viet Nam-Cuba Inter-Govermental Committee on Economics, Trade, Scientific and Technological Co-operation opened for both sides to discuss measures to step up efforts in these fields.
The 30th session of the Viet Nam-Cuba Inter-Governmental Committee on Economics, Trade, Scientific and Technological Cooperation opened on Monday in Havana. The Vietnamese delegation was led by Minister of Construction Trinh Dinh Dung, head of the Viet Nam-Cuba Sub-committee, while the Cuban delegation was led by Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz, head of the Cuba-Viet Nam Sub-committee.
Diaz said he hoped that Vietnamese companies would continue to invest in oil, gas and minerals exploration and exploration, renewable energies, tourism, information technology and agriculture in Cuba. Dung said Viet Nam was interested in areas in which Cuba has strengths, especially bio-technology and agricultural projects.— VNS
