HA NOI — The relationship between Viet Nam and Singapore has been significantly intensified in various fields, boosting the development of both countries, stated Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung yesterday.

Dung noted the improved relations across areas including economics, trade, investment and tourism, while receiving the newly-appointed Ambassador Ng Teck Hean here yesterday.

Expressing his belief that Hean would make positive contributions to promoting co-operation between the two countries, the PM said he also hoped Singapore would support Viet Nam in the Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations.

Dung called for the two sides to work closely in building a united ASEAN community and maintaining the common stance on regional and international issues of mutual concern, including the East Sea issues.

Ambassador Ng Teck Hean said he was pleased with the Vietnamese Government's support for Singaporean businesses operating in Viet Nam.

Regarding the East Sea issues, the diplomat affirmed his county's consistent stance of supporting the settlement of all issues related to the East Sea through peaceful negotiations and on the basis of respect to the international law-VNS
