Party leader visits Nghe An to inspect development work

NGHE AN — Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited mountainous Mon Son commune in Con Cuong District yesterday as part of his trip to inspect socio-economic development, defence and security in the central province of Nghe An.

The Party leader scrutinised the production and the living conditions of ethnic groups in the commune, where 82 per cent of the population are Thai ethnic minority people who mainly make their living from agricultural and forestry work.

He said he was pleased with the achievements made in economic development and Party building work by the local party committee, authorities and people.

The commune's transport infrastructure has been greatly upgraded, which has helped with the development of public works and schools.

Trong said he hoped that the local Party committee, authorities and people would uphold their revolutionary tradition and potential to strive for sustainable poverty reduction and building of new-style rural areas.

He urged the Nghe An authorities to strengthen defence and security, while expanding external relations and improving the living conditions of ethnic people and State-policy beneficiaries.

Also during his trip, Trong visited Border Station 557 and praised the officers and soldiers for their efforts in defending border security and sovereignty. — VNS
