President lauds Korea Foundation

HA NOI— Viet Nam and South Korea have established many effective co-operative mechanisms over 20 years of diplomatic ties, deepening the two countries' strategic partnership and actively contributing to regional and global stability and development, President Truong Tan Sang said.

Sang made these remarks yesterday in Ha Noi at a reception for a delegation of the Republic of Korea (RoK) scholars who are attending the "For RoK-Vietnam Future" Forum and the "RoK-ASEAN Cooperation Forum".

The President highly valued contributions made by the Korea Foundation to boosting the two countries' friendship in fields of personnel training, people exchange and scientific studies.

He said he believes that activities to mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the two countries' diplomatic ties including the two forums co-organised by the Korea Foundation and the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences will contribute to the success of the 2012 Vietnam-RoK Friendship Year, elevating friendship, trust and cooperation between the two nations.

Kim Woo Sang, President of the Korea Foundation, affirmed Viet Nam and the RoK have a strong relationship which has been further consolidated through people-to-people exchanges, adding that this foundation will continue to help the two countries' intellectuals strengthen mutual understanding. — VNS
