HA NOI — Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan received a delegation of Thai senators from Khon Kaen province led by Senator Prasert Prakoonsuksapan in Ha Noi yesterday, describing the visit as an indication of the friendship and co-operation between the two nations.
She said she was exceptionally pleased with the strong developments in bilateral co-operation, especially in economics, trade, investment, and defence and security.
Doan applauded the successful holding of the first Viet Nam-Thailand Joint Trade Committee in Ha Noi last July, where both countries agreed to try and raise annual two-way trade by 20 per cent to US$18 billion by 2015.
She also thanked Khon Kaen province, where Prasert Prakoonsuksapan is from, for supporting the Vietnamese community over the past few years.
Prasert Prakoonsuksapan said that he hoped in the future, both countries would open a direct air route from Khon Kaen to Ha Noi and HCM City to boost trade and tourism as well as improve connectivity between different localities in both countries. — VNS
