Lawmakers review voting procedures

HA NOI — A project to improve the procedure for casting votes of confidence on key posts elected or approved by the National Assembly (NA) and people's councils was necessary and timely, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said.

Addressing the project steering board's first meeting in Ha Noi yesterday, Hung said that a uniform format on vote casting procedure would also help the NA and people's councils figure out how to address flaws in the voting process and more efficiently enforce the Constitution and related laws.

The project aims to create favourable conditions for NA deputies and people's councils members to express their confidence about key posts on behalf of all voters. This is expected to enhance the responsibilities of those people.

The project will be presented to the NA's fourth meeting session by the end of this year. — VNS
