Farewell for Singaporean envoy

HA NOI — Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong farewelled Simon Wong Wie Kuen, the outgoing Singaporean Ambassador, in Ha Noi yesterday.

Minister of National Defence, General Phung Quang Thanh met the diplomat at a separate meeting.

Thanh spoke highly of the diplomat's contributions to the developing friendship and co-operation in many fields between Viet Nam and Singapore, including bilateral defence ties.

He also thanked the Singaporean Government for their assistance in English language and naval training for the Vietnamese Defence Ministry, as well as supporting Viet Nam within the framework of the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting Plus (ADMM+).

Kuen pledged to continue efforts to develop friendship and co-operation between the two countries and defence ministries. — VNS
