VN tells Rio about its green strategy

RIO DE JANEIRO — Viet Nam has affirmed its determination to build a green growth strategy to develop its economy sustainably, use energy efficiently and develop renewable energy.

Addressing the Rio+20 summit in Brazil's capital on Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan said green growth strategy would help solve social and environmental challenges when implementing growth schemes.

Nhan also called on the international community for support in finance and technology in projects, including energy planning, research to reduce greenhouse emissions, investment in renewable energy and the development of renewable energy in rural areas. He re-affirmed the energy ector had played an important role in the country's development and renewal process. — VNS
