HA NOI — Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has asked new Vietnamese ambassadors and chief representatives overseas to effectively implement the country's foreign policies for national development. Speaking to the 25 newly appointed senior officials in the capital yesterday, Dung urged each diplomat to help foreign friends know more about the country's position on self-reliance and pro-active integration into the world, in the spirit of friendship.
He said the new diplomats should pay close attention to economic and cultural integration and look to boost trade exchanges, while attracting more overseas development assistance, promoting tourism and enhancing co-operation in education.
He also asked the diplomats to care for overseas Vietnamese in their respective countries.
