President welcomes Russian oil CEO

HA NOI — President Truong Tan Sang emphasised that Viet Nam's leaders would always create favourable conditions for oil and gas entrepreneurs in Viet Nam and Russia to boost co-operation.

He made the statement while receiving CEO of Russia's Gazprom Corporation Alexei Miller during his working visit to Viet Nam.

Miller briefed President Sang on the co-operation results between Gazprom Corporation and Petrovietnam in recent years, stressing that the oil and gas sector was one of the most fruitful co-operation sectors in bilateral relations.

He said the corporation would continue its efforts to effectively implement the co-operation programme. He also expressed his belief that with its capacity, experience and prestige, his corporation would support the expansion of oil and gas co-operation between Viet Nam and Russia, and strengthen their strategic partnership and comprehensive co-operation.

President Sang thanked Gazprom for its support to Viet Nam's oil and gas industry, saying its had become a symbol of the friendship enjoyed between the two countries.

He expressed his pleasure over the good results in many fields, especially political relations, after more than a decade of implementing bilateral strategic partnerships and co-operation. — VNS
