HA NOI — Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg yesterday told Viet Nam News that Czech enterprises wish to focus on investing in infrastructure, especially traffic, technology transfer and finance.
Schwarzenberg, who is paying a three-day official visit to Viet Nam, suggested that Vietnamese enterprises should actively communicate with their Czech counterparts and advise them on decisions relating to their business interests in Viet Nam.
He explained this would be much more effective than Czech enterprises searching for information about Viet Nam's market on their own.
A delegation of Czech enterprises is working to boost economic co-operation in the two countries. In turn, Vietnamese enterprises should come to the Czech Republic in the near future to learn more about its investment environment, he said.
To support the country in accessing the European market, Deputy PM Schwarzenberg affirmed that the Czech Republic would urge the EU to start negotiations on the Viet Nam-EU free trade agreement.
He said that the country would give a US$1 million in ODA to Viet Nam this year, a portion of which would be used to improve Hai Phong City's Viet-Tiep Hospital. In addition, the country would keep giving scholarships to Vietnamese students.-VNS
