HA NOI — Viet Nam considered nuclear security and safety as the top priority in developing nuclear power, in addition to supporting every country's right to use nuclear power for peaceful purposes, Viet Nam's Foreign Affairs spokesperson Luong Thanh Nghi said at a press briefing yesterday.
The statement was made ahead of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung's trip to South Korea to attend the Seoul Nuclear Security Summit from March 26 to 27.
Viet Nam's attendance of the Seoul summit reaffirmed the country's consistent policy of using nuclear power for peaceful purposes, Nghi said.
At the summit, Viet Nam will present its efforts to maintain the highest safety levels possible, and work with other countries to promote the peaceful use of nuclear power across the world. — VNS
