Russians can vote from Viet Nam

Update: February, 29/2012 - 10:03

BINH THUAN — A voting booth will be set up in Binh Thuan Province to enable Russian citizens residing in Viet Nam or visiting the country to exercise their right to vote in the presidential elections of their homeland.

Russian Ambassador to Viet Nam Andrey G Kovtun said establishing the booth was deemed necessary because of the large number of Russian citizens present in the province's Phan Thiet City.

These include Russian businesspeople, Vietnamese-Russians working and doing business in the province and Russians tourists.

The provincial tourism association estimates that as much as 60 per cent of the total tourists to the province are Russians. At most times, around 6,000 Russian tourists are estimated to be present in the province. — VNS
