HA NOI — National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan met with a visiting delegation of the Thailand-Viet Nam Friendship Parliamentary Group yesterday which was headed by President Paijit Sree Warakan.
Ngan offered her sympathy over Thailand's recent difficulties caused by floods and expressed hope that the Thai government and people would soon overcome the aftermath of the natural disaster.
She expressed her pleasure at the ongoing development of multifaceted co-operation between Viet Nam and Thailand, particularly between the two parliaments, since the two countries established diplomatic ties 35 years ago.
Viet Nam always attached importance to co-operation with Thailand, Ngan said, and expressed her wish that the two sides would continue expanding friendship and co-operation for the prosperity, peace, co-operation and development of the two countries and the region.
She suggested that the two nations further strengthen co-operation regionally and internationally, tighten co-operation on issues relating to Mekong river water and ensure peace and stability in the East Sea.
Paijit Sree Warakan expressed hope that friendship parliamentary groups of the two parliaments would continue their exchanges and co-operation to contribute to boosting the traditional co-operation between the two countries. — VNS
