Southern Liberation Radio's 50th birthday

HCM CITY — The 50th anniversary of the Southern Liberation Radio, now called the Voice of HCM City People, was marked on Saturday.

Established by the Southern Central Party Committee at Ma Da base in the D Resistance Zone in Dong Nai Province, the radio station broadcast its first programme on February 1, 1962, marking a milestone in the struggle for national liberation by appealing to people to support the liberation effort led by President Ho Chi Minh, the Party Central Committee, and the National Front for the Liberation of South Viet Nam.

VOH now also has an FM channel (99.9 MHz) for business and entertainment and a channel for urban transport (95.6 MHz), broadcasting for a total of 62 hours a day. — VNS
