HA NOI — President Truong Tan Sang urged the Viet Nam Fatherland Front to play a more active role in Party building at its Central Committee's fourth meeting in HCM City yesterday.
The Front should start by working with relevant agencies to complete the mechanism it needed to fulfil its role as both monitor and social critic, he said. The mechanism, once approved, would act as a foundation for the Front to exercise its supervisory role over the work of Party and State agencies, Party members and State officials.
Chapters at all levels, based on opinions solicited from different social strata, should provide State agencies with fair and accurate information that could be used effectively, he said.
They also needed to encourage public participation in the identification of corrupt officials.
The President asked the Front to continue to improve the quality of their work in effectively disseminating Party guidelines and State policies and laws to the wider populace, and called for its more active participation in Party and State external affairs. — VNS
