HA NOI — Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has stressed that personnel work is key to building up the Party, which has always been a priority.
"Our Party has always considered Party building a key task of vital significance to our system," Trong said at a two-day meeting of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Organisation, which concluded yesterday. "In this task, personnel work is the key."
Reviewing the work done in 2011 and highlighting those to be carried out this year, the Party leader stressed that the achievements had created momentum for future work.
The current context of Viet Nam's revolution required further improvement in the Party's leading ability and combativeness. Such context posed heavier tasks on Party building work, he said.
"If our Party is not really politically and ideologically firm, not highly unanimous in our will and actions, not virtuously clean, not tightly organised and not supported by the people, then we will not be capable of leading the country," Trong pointed out.
He expressed his hope that the commission and its staff clearly understand their heavy responsibility to the Party and the people as a whole in the new context.
"Every official must work in a cautious, exemplary and humane way while strictly respecting the principles and procedures set forth in the work," the Party leader said, adding that personnel work must be fair and not influenced by personal affection.
Concluding the meeting, the first of its kind in the 11th tenure, commission head To Huy Rua said the Party Central Committee had assigned the commission 35 projects, including the building of personnel for the Committee, the Political Bureau, the Secretariat and key leaders of the Party and the State.
"Facing the new requirements, the commission must be exemplary in its work so as to become reliable, thus helping consolidate the trust within the Party and the trust of the people in the Party," he said.
The immediate work of the commission would be to help issue the resolution of the fourth plenum of the Party Central Committee, as well as the directive and plan of the Political Bureau on the implementation of the resolution at an early date, Rua pointed out. — VNS
