VN ‘united with Asian, African, Latin American countries'

HCM CITY — Viet Nam has always maintained solidarity with Asian, African and Latin American countries in the interests of peace, independence and prosperity, according to Tran Dac Loi, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organisations Vice Chairman.

Loi's remarks came yesterday at the 45th anniversary of the Organisation of Solidarity with the People of Asia, Africa and Latin America.

Loi expressed his thanks to member countries during Viet Nam's struggle for national independence.

OSPAAAL is the first such inter-continental organisation of nations in Asia, Africa and Latin America that came together in their respective struggles against colonialism for freedom and democracy.

Ambassadors from Cuba, Venezuela and Palestine reflected on each nation's experiences over the past 45 years, and pledged continued mutual support in the future for the purposes of building strong and wealthy nations that stand for social justice as well as regional and international peace.

The organisation, aiming to promote the cause of freedom fighters in the Third World, was established in 1966 in La Habana, Cuba. — VNS
