President Triet praises efforts of veteran

HA NOI — President Nguyen Minh Triet applauded the efforts made and assistance given by veteran experts sent by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union's Central Committee to Cambodia to perform a tour of international co-operation from 1979-89.

Speaking with veterans at a meeting in the capital city yesterday, Triet said the friendship and relations between the people of the two countries had achieved comprehensive development in economy, culture and education among others.

The President called on people today and future generations to continue to deepen friendly relations and co-operation between the three countries of Viet Nam, Cambodia and Laos.

Also at the meeting, Triet stressed on the important role of the youth union in creating a good environment to train young people in human dignity and ethics.

In June 1979, a delegation of young Vietnamese people was sent to Cambodia to help the country train personnel and implement activities relevant to young people there.

Ha Noi Party Executive discusses work ahead

HA NOI — The Ha Noi Party Executive Committee discussed Party building work, contributed opinions to working regulations and determined a working programme for the city's Party Committee and its Inspection Commission at a meeting held yesterday in the capital.

Politburo member and Ha Noi Party Committee Secretary Pham Quang Nghi said the content discussed had carried a very important meaning not only for this year, but also for the tenure as a whole.

He asked delegates to focus on analysing the current situation and reasons contributing to what had already been done and what was left to do, especially on subjective reasons and measures to be taken this year.

Participants were also expected to contribute to each working programme with a view to helping committees at different levels and local governments successfully and effectively implement the city's 15th Party Congress Resolutions and socio-economic development plan from 2011-15. — VNS
