Next week: Many foreigners who come to stay in Viet Nam, whether to work as freelancers, or to retire, have been complaining about the visa renewal process, which requires them to get a new visa on a regular basis. In order to do this, they often have to go out of the country and then come back again. They say it's a lengthy and costly process.
Meanwhile, many neighboring countries have offered paid visas on arrival or, in the case of Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore, 30 days of free travel. Viet Nam has recently waived visa fees for several countries, but the visas are only for 15 days.
Visa runs might be only one among several problems for foreigners who want to stay for a long time in Viet Nam. What is your experience with this matter? What changes or adjustments in terms of policies do you want the Government to make to make it less complicated for foreigners who live in the country? Do you have any recommendations of services the country should offer?
